2010 DaVinci/Martin Scholars
A $3,000 Award for Outstanding First-Year Teachers
The DaVinci/Martin Scholar Award is designed to honor pre-service teachers whose academic accomplishments and service to the university are deemed most notable. Nominees will demonstrate the ability to integrate content into relevant applications through a service learning proposal. The proposal should exemplify scholarship, creativity, inventiveness, sound teaching techniques, and a keen sense of responsibility. Five awards of $3,000 will be presented.
Eligible applicants for this award must be in their final two years of a teacher preparation program . Presidents of each university may nominate no more than two education majors who are in their final two years of teacher preparation for the award. Deadline for submitting nominations will be February 12, 2010.
Selection will be based on four characteristics:
1) Academic GPA (20 percent) 2) Service Learning proposal ( click to download ) (50 percent) 3) Letter of nomination (10 percent) 4) Creativity (20 percent)
The recipients will be honored at the annual DaVinci banquet, March 26, 2010, and will receive the award check in October of the first year of teaching in an Oklahoma school.
A complete application consists of (1) a current transcript, (2) the completed Service Learning Proposal , and (3) a letter of recommendation.
